Gently insert an iPod opening tool between the rear panel and the inner rear frame near the headphone jack. Use your iPod opening tool to pry up the rear case around the perimeter of the Evo.

Lift the rear panel off of the inner rear frame.

Using the tip of your finger, lift the battery from the end closest to the camera. Remove the battery from the rear inner frame.

Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up the red MicroSD retainer attached o the inner frame. The retainer will move about 1 mm and stop. Do not attempt to completely remove the MicroSD card retainer.

Use a pair of tweezers to carefully pull the MicroSD card out of its slot in the inner rear frame.

Remove six T5 Torx screws securing the rear inner frame to the inner case.

Gently insert an iPod opening tool between the rear inner frame and its plastic surround near the Micro HDMI port. Carefully pry the top edge of the rear inner frame away from the front surround of the Evo.

Insert the iPod opening tool between the rear inner frame and its plastic surround and pry up at several points along the left edge of the Evo.

Continue the prying procedure, now focusing on detaching the plastic surround from the bottom of the Evo. Pry up the rear inner frame along the right edge using the method described in previous steps. Eventually work around the entire perimeter of the rear inner frame until it is lifted slightly from the inner case.

Remove the rear inner frame from the rest of the Evo.

Remove the single Phillips screw securing the logic board to the inner case near the headphone jack.

Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the logic board off the posts securing it to the metal display tray. Do not try to completely remove the logic board just yet. It is still attached by three ribbon cables.

Carefully peel the device information sticker off the left edge of the logic board and EMI shield to reveal three connectors covered with tape. It is not necessary to peel the entire device information sticker off the EMI shield.

Fold the device information sticker up against the top of the logic board to keep it out of the way while you work. Remove the pieces of tape covering the following ribbon cables:

Front-facing camera
Front panel ribbon cable
Display ribbon cable

Using the tip of an iPod opening tool, flip up the front-facing camera ribbon cable retaining flap. Be very careful and gentle with these flaps. They are very easy to break or dislodge and equally difficult to reinstall. Use a pair of tweezers to pull the front-facing camera ribbon cable straight out of its socket.

Using the tip of an iPod opening tool, flip up the front panel ribbon cable retaining flap. Use a pair of tweezers to pull the front panel ribbon cable straight out of its socket.

Using the tip of an iPod opening tool, flip up the display ribbon cable retaining flap. Grasp the display ribbon cable with a pair of tweezers and pull it straight out of its socket.

Carefully lift the logic board out of the inner case, minding any cables that may get caught. Be mindful of the top power button and side rocker switch, which may fall out of the front case when the board is removed. Gently lift the front-facing camera out of its recess in the inner case and remove it from the Evo.

In the following steps, you will use a heat gun to soften the adhesive securing the outer black border around the underside of the front glass panel to the inner case.

With the heat gun set to low, start by heating the outer black border near the upper left corner of the glass panel. Try not to excessively heat the outer plastic edge of the Evo. Due to the heat applied, it is normal for a layer of condensation to develop on the inside of the glass panel and/or the outside of the LCD. It can be removed with glass cleaner once the glass is separated from the display.
Gently insert an iPod opening tool between the glass front panel and its plastic surround near the upper top left corner of the Evo. Carefully pry up the glass, being careful not to bend it excessively. The key is to work slowly and gently to avoid breaking internal components.

Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive along the left side of the front glass panel.

Insert the iPod opening tool between the front panel and its plastic surround and pry up a several points along the left edge of the Evo.

Continue the heating and prying procedure, now focusing on detaching the bottom of the front panel from the plastic surround. Pry along the bottom edge of the Evo to further separate the front panel from the rest of the device.

Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive along the right side of the front glass panel.

Pry up the front panel along the right edge using the method described in previous steps. Eventually work around the entire perimeter of the front panel until it is lifted slightly from the inner case. Don't try to completely remove the front panel just yet. Its ribbon cable is still attached to the inner case.

Peel the front panel ribbon cable off the adhesive securing it to the metal underside of the inner case.

Lift the front panel out of the inner case, minding the cable still routed through the bottom of the Evo. Carefully de-route the front panel ribbon cable through the slot in the inner case. Remove the front panel. Notice the four (4) clear plastic hooks that are adhered behind the menu buttons. Look closely. Each one is shaped differently and in a particular orientation. If the replacement front panel does not have these installed already, carefully remove and transfer them from the old panel to the replacement.

Peel the piece of tape connecting the underside of the LCD metal tray to the bottom of the inner case.

In the following steps, you will use a heat gun to soften the adhesive securing the underside of the LCD panel to the inner case. The area the adhesive is applied to is shown in red in the second picture (with the LCD removed). Use your heat gun to soften the adhesive under the LCD panel along its left edge.

To gain enough clearance to insert an iPod opening tool, it is necessary to simultaneously push the LCD panel outwards while prying along the edges. It is recommended to push through the opening located near the bottom left corner of the Evo. Insert an iPod opening tool with the edge angled up toward the underside of the display between the backlight and the metal shield beneath it.

Gently insert an iPod opening tool between the LCD panel and its plastic surround near the top left corner of the Evo. Use the iPod opening tool as a lever to pry the LCD panel away from its plastic surround.

Use your heat gun to soften the adhesive under the LCD panel along its right edge.

To gain enough clearance to insert an iPod opening tool along the bottom of the LCD panel, it is necessary to simultaneously push the LCD panel outwards while prying along the edges. It is recommended to push through the opening near the bottom right corner of the Evo. Insert an iPod opening tool between the LCD panel and its plastic surround and pry up at several points along the right edge of the Evo.

Lift the LCD panel assembly out of the inner case.

How to remove Computer feet

The computer feet are adhesive-backed rubber pads. There are four computer feet (1) that adhere to the computer base enclosure, and two computer feet (2) that adhere to the high-capacity battery.

How to remove Battery

Before disassembling the computer, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
Remove the battery:
1. Turn the computer upside down, with the rear panel toward you.
2. Slide the battery lock latch (1) to your right, and then release it. (The battery disengages from the computer.)
3. Slide the battery release latch (2) to your left, and then release it.
4. Remove the battery (3) by sliding it straight back.

How to remove Hard drive

Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the hard drive:
1. Position the computer with the front toward you.
2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.0×5.0 captive screws (1) that secure the hard drive cover to the computer.
3. Lift the left side of the hard drive cover (2) and swing it to right.

4. Remove the hard drive cover.

5. Grasp the Mylar tab (1) on the hard drive and lift the hard drive to disconnect it from the system board.
6. Remove the hard drive (2) from the hard drive bay.

How to remove RTC battery

Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the battery
5. Remove the hard drive cover
Remove the RTC battery:
Use a non-conductive, flat-bladed tool to pry the RTC battery out of the socket.

How to remove Optical drive

Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps:

1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the optical drive:
1. Position the computer with the right side toward you.
2. Slide the optical drive release latch (1) toward you. (The optical drive is partially ejected from the optical drive bay.)
3. Remove the optical drive (2) from the computer.

How to remove Memory module

Before removing the memory module, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the battery
Remove the memory module:
1. Position the computer with the front toward you.
2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.0×5.0 captive screws (1) that secure the memory module compartment cover to the computer.
3. Lift the left side of the cover (2) and swing it to the right.

5. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)

6. Pull the module (2) away from the slot at an angle and remove it.

How to remove Keyboard

Before removing the keyboard, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the battery 

Remove the keyboard:
1. Position the computer with the front toward you.
2. Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×11.0 screws that secure the keyboard to the computer.

4. Open the computer.

5. Lift the rear edge of the keyboard and swing it toward you until it rests on the palm rest.

6. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector (1) to which the keyboard cable is attached and disconnect the keyboard cable (2).

7. Remove the keyboard.

Remove the two 3.8 mm Pentalobe screws next to the Lightning connector.

The next two steps demonstrate using the iSclack, a great tool for safely opening the iPhone 5c that we recommend for anyone doing more than one repair on an iPhone 5, 5s, or 5c. If you aren't using the iSclack, skip to step 5. Close the handle on the iSclack, opening the suction-cup jaws. Place the bottom of your iPhone in between the suction cups, against the plastic depth gauge.

The top suction cup should rest just above the home button. Open the handles to close the jaws of the iSclack. Center the suction cups and press them firmly onto the top and bottom of the iPhone.

Hold onto your iPhone securely and close the handle of the iSclack to separate the suction cups, pulling the front panel up from the rear case. The iSclack is designed to safely open your iPhone just enough to separate the pieces, but not enough to damage any cables. Peel the two suction cups off your iPhone.

Press a suction cup onto the screen, just above the home button. Be sure the cup is completely on the screen to get a tight seal.

Make sure the suction cup is firmly attached to the front panel assembly. While holding the iPhone down with one hand, pull up on the suction cup to slightly separate the front panel assembly from the rear case. Take your time and apply firm, constant force. The display assembly is a much tighter fit than most devices. With a plastic opening tool, begin to gently pry the rear case down, away from the display assembly, while you pull up with the suction cup. There are several clips attaching the front panel assembly to the rear case, so you may need to use a combination of the suction cup and plastic opening tool to free the front panel assembly.

Pull the plastic nub to release the vacuum seal on the suction cup. Remove the suction cup from the display assembly. Lift the home button end of the front panel up to gain access to the connectors near the top of the phone. During the next few steps, until you remove the front panel assembly, keep it supported at a 90º angle in relation to the rear case.

Remove the following Phillips #000 screws securing the front panel assembly cable bracket to the logic board:

Two 1.3 mm screws
One 1.7 mm screw

One 3.25 mm screw It is especially important to keep track of your screws in this step for reassembly. Accidentally using the 3.25 mm screw or the 1.7 mm screw in the bottom right hole will result in significant damage to the logic board causing the phone to no longer boot properly. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws. If they don't fit easily when you are securing them, they may be the wrong size, don't force them.

Remove the front panel assembly cable bracket from the logic board.

Use a plastic opening tool to disconnect the front-facing camera and sensor cable connector. Be sure to only pry up on the connector, and not on the socket on the logic board.

Use a plastic opening tool to disconnect the LCD cable connector. The LCD and Digitizer connectors are on the same cable assembly, so prying the LCD connector up should disconnect both connectors. Double check that the two cables are fully disconnected before removing the display. When reassembling your phone, the LCD cable may pop off its connector. A blank screen, or white lines on the display could be caused by a loose connection. Should this happen, reconnect the cable and power cycle your phone. The best way to power cycle your phone is to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Remove the front panel assembly from the rear case.

Remove the two 1.3 mm Phillips #000 screws securing the home button bracket to the display assembly.

Use a plastic opening tool to pry the edge of the home button ribbon cable up from the display assembly.

Start under the contact points on the right and work to the left. Starting from the left and going right may rip your ribbon cable. The contacts are well adhered to the front panel and should be peeled up first.
If you have trouble sliding the plastic opening tool under the contact points, flip the tool over and gently push against the right side of the contact cable to loosen the adhesive, then try again.

Remove the home button ribbon cable from the display assembly.

Gently push the top right corner of the home button up away from the front panel. Do not push the home button all the way through; you only need to get a corner free so that you can pry it out with a spudger. This membrane is very thin. If you feel like you are going to tear the button, apply heat and try again.

Peel the home button the rest of the way off of the display by prying gently with a spudger. Remove the home button assembly from the front panel.

Remove two Phillips #000 screws securing the upper component bracket to the display assembly.

One 4.2 mm screw
One 2.3 mm screw

Use the flat edge of a spudger to push the earpiece speaker bracket off the display assembly.

Remove the earpiece speaker from the iPhone.

Using the pointed end of a spudger, gently pry the earpiece speaker contact cable up, to separate this portion of the camera and sensor cable from the adhesive below. There is a small, square, plastic and metal holder for the proximity sensor. This holder is essential for the proximity sensor to function correctly. f replacing the proximity sensor make sure that the holder remains adhered to the back of he display. If it comes off with the old proximity sensor, remove it from the old sensor and use a tiny bit of adhesive to re-attach it to the back of the display.

Slide the point of a spudger under the microphone to lift it out of its recess in the display assembly.

Remove two 1.2 mm Phillips #000 screws from each side of the LCD frame (four total).

Remove the 1.6 mm Phillips #000 screws from the LCD shield plate.

Pry with a plastic opening tool, or your fingernail, in the divot to the left of the rear-facing camera, near the power button.

Lift the rear case by the corner nearest the divot and remove it from the phone.

Use the flat end of a spudger, or your fingernail, to press the microSD card slightly deeper nto its slot until you hear a click. After the click, release the card and it will pop out of its slot. Remove the microSD card. For reassembly, push the microSD card into the slot until it clicks in place.

Insert a plastic opening tool, or your finger, into the notch of the battery compartment and lift the battery upward. Remove the battery from your phone.

Use a plastic opening tool, or your fingernail, to press the SIM card slightly deeper into its slot until you hear a click. After the click, release the card and it will pop out of its slot. Remove the SIM card. During reassembly, push the SIM card into the slot until it clicks in place.

Remove the nine 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the midframe to the display assembly.

The midframe is secured to the display assembly by several plastic clips behind the chrome bezel of the midframe. The next few steps will guide you through separating the clips to free the midframe. Starting on the volume button side of the phone, insert your plastic opening tool between he chrome bezel around the display glass and the larger chrome border piece. Look for he seam between the two. Slide the opening tool along the seam, separating the plastic clips as you go. Be very gentle whilst prying, and pry only enough to separate the plastic clips—there are several thin points in the midframe bezel that may crack if you bend them too much.

Continue prying around the corner of the phone. Slide your opening tool along the seam between the midframe and display along the bottom of the device, releasing more of the plastic clips.

Again, pry around the corner, to the power button side. Slide the opening tool along the seam.

Continue sliding the opening tool around the top of the phone, releasing the last of the clips and freeing the midframe from the display assembly. At this point, you may want to run your plastic opening tool along the entire perimeter of the device again, to make sure you've released all of the plastic clips.

Remove the midframe from the display assembly.

Use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the USB board cable connector from the motherboard.

Gently insert the point of a spudger between the USB port and the USB port bracket to pry one side of the bracket off of its post.

Remove the USB port bracket from the USB port. The bracket is slightly springy and should pop back into place on the two screw posts during reassembly.

Disconnect the soft button cable from the USB board cable. Disconnect the antenna cable connector from the USB board. Depending on your carrier, you may have an additional antenna cable. If you can access it at this point, use a spudger to disconnect it from the USB board.

The USB board is secured to the display assembly with light adhesive. Depending on your carrier the USB board may have an additional antenna cable on the back side of the USB board. Pry very carefully and stop if you encounter resistance. Gently insert the flat end of a spudger beneath the USB board to free it from the adhesive holding it in place. Go slow and be careful not to bend the board.

Remove the USB board from the display assembly.

How to remove Bottom cover

Before removing the bottom cover, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the bottom cover:
1. Position the computer upside-down.

2. Remove the 8 rubber screw covers from atop the screws. The screw covers are different sizes based on location, so be sure to make note of each screw covers location for replacement.

3. Remove the 2 Phillips M2.5×8.0 screws and 6 Phillips M2.5×6.0 screws that secure the bottom cover to the computer.

4. Starting at the card reader slot, pry around the seams of the bottom cover to disengage it from the computer.

How to remove Memory module

To update BIOS:

1. Navigate to hp wed
2. Click Support & Drivers > click Drivers & Software.
3. In the Enter a product name/number box, type the computer model information, and then click Search.
4. Click the link for the computer model.
5. Select the operating system, and then click Next.
6. Under Step 2: Select a Download, click the BIOS link.
7. Click the link for the most recent BIOS.
8. Click the Download button, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Before removing the memory module, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

Remove the memory module:

1. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)
2. Remove the memory module (2) by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle.

1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the bottom cover
5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

Remove the keyboard:

1. Position the computer upright and open as far as possible.
2. Using a small, thin tool, press the 4 latches (1) at the top of the keyboard upward to disengage the keyboard from the computer.

3. Lift the top of the keyboard upward (2), and place the keyboard on the palm rest.

4. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board.

5. The touchpad cable also connects to the system board under the keyboard. This connector is located on the bottom of the system board along with the keyboard connector. Disconnect the touchpad cable if you need remove the system board.

How to remove Battery

Before removing the battery, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the bottom cover
Remove the battery:
1. Remove the 2 Phillips M2.0×6.0 screws (1) that secure the battery to the computer.
2. Lift the tape from atop the battery connector, and then disconnect the cable from the system board connector (2).
3. Remove the battery from the computer (3).

Apple iPhone battery replacement procedure – Apple iPhone 4s Battery replacement

Before disassembling your iPhone, be sure it is powered off. Your iPhone 4 rear cover may have either two #000 Phillips screws or Apple's 5-Point "Pentalobe" screws (second image). Check which screws you have, and ensure you also have the correct screwdriver in order to remove them.
Remove the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe or Phillips #000 screws next to the dock connector. During reassembly, we recommend you replace the 5-point screws with equivalent Phillips screws. Our Liberation Kit provides the tools and screws needed to replace the Pentalobe screws with Phillips screws.
The 5-Point Screwdriver should only be used once, as it has the potential to strip the screws.

Push the rear panel toward the top edge of the iPhone. The panel will move about 2 mm.

Pinch the rear panel with your fingers and lift it away from the iPhone. Alternatively, use a Small Suction Cup . Be careful not to damage the plastic clips attached to the rear panel.

If you are installing a new rear panel, be sure to remove the plastic protective sticker from the inside of the camera lens and the sticker from the large black area near the lens.

Remove the single 2.5 mm Phillips screw securing the battery connector to the logic board. Some devices may have two screws, one of which holds down the contact pad which is located above the screw indicated in red in the photo.

Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry the battery connector up from its socket on the logic board. Pry from the top and bottom of the connector bracket there isn't as much of an overhang on the sides, and you may damage the connector.

Be very careful to only pry up on the battery connector and not the socket on the logic board. If you pry up on the logic board socket, you may break it entirely. Remove the metal clip covering the antenna connector.

Use the clear plastic pull tab to gently lift the battery out of the iPhone. Do not remove the plastic tab from the iPhone. You may need to use a plastic opening tool to loosen the adhesive under the battery. Remove the contact clip from the iPhone. Before reconnecting the battery connector, be sure the contact clip (shown in red) is properly positioned next to the battery connector. Before reassembly, be sure to clean all metal-to-metal contact points on the pressure contact as well as its contact point on the rear panel with a de-greaser such as windex. The oils on your fingers have the potential to cause wireless interference issues.
