How to remove Bottom cover
Before removing the bottom cover, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the bottom cover:
1. Position the computer upside-down.
2. Remove the 8 rubber screw covers from atop the screws. The screw covers are different sizes based on location, so be sure to make note of each screw covers location for replacement.
3. Remove the 2 Phillips M2.5×8.0 screws and 6 Phillips M2.5×6.0 screws that secure the bottom cover to the computer.
4. Starting at the card reader slot, pry around the seams of the bottom cover to disengage it from the computer.
How to remove Memory module
To update BIOS:
1. Navigate to hp wed
2. Click Support & Drivers > click Drivers & Software.
3. In the Enter a product name/number box, type the computer model information, and then click Search.
4. Click the link for the computer model.
5. Select the operating system, and then click Next.
6. Under Step 2: Select a Download, click the BIOS link.
7. Click the link for the most recent BIOS.
8. Click the Download button, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Before removing the memory module, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the bottom cover
5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Remove the memory module:
1. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)
2. Remove the memory module (2) by pulling the module away from the slot at an angle.
How to remove Keyboard
Before removing the keyboard, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the bottom cover
5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Remove the keyboard:
1. Position the computer upright and open as far as possible.
2. Using a small, thin tool, press the 4 latches (1) at the top of the keyboard upward to disengage the keyboard from the computer.
3. Lift the top of the keyboard upward (2), and place the keyboard on the palm rest.
4. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board.
5. The touchpad cable also connects to the system board under the keyboard. This connector is located on the bottom of the system board along with the keyboard connector. Disconnect the touchpad cable if you need remove the system board.
How to remove Battery
Before removing the battery, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the bottom cover
Remove the battery:
1. Remove the 2 Phillips M2.0×6.0 screws (1) that secure the battery to the computer.
2. Lift the tape from atop the battery connector, and then disconnect the cable from the system board connector (2).
3. Remove the battery from the computer (3).
