Motorola Atrix HD:  DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE 

How to remove LCD & Touch Screen

On the bottom left hand side of the Motorola Atrix HD is the door for the SIM card and MicroSD.
Open the door and remove the cards before proceeding with your disassemble.
To take the back cover off the phone, use the plastic opening tool to pry it off. Un-snap each clip carefully as you work around the perimeter of the phone.

Remove the back cover from the Motorola Atrix HD.

There is a small amount of adhesive on the center of the back to attach it to the battery. Using the spudger, separate the adhesive to free the back cover from the phone.

There are ten T5 torx head screws that secure the rear chassis onto the phone. Use the T5 torx bit screwdriver to remove these screws and free the chassis.

Once all of the screws are removed from the chassis, utilize the plastic opening tool to separate the rear chassis from the body of the Motorola Atrix HD.

How to remove Speaker Assembly

With the rear portion of the chassis removed, use the pointed end of the spudger to gently pry the speaker assembly up out of its location. It is held down with a small amount of adhesive.
You can now remove the speaker assembly from the Motorola Atrix HD.

How to remove Battery

To remove the battery, go back to the main body of the phone. Using the appropriate screwdriver, remove the two T5 torx screws that secure the battery’s terminals down to the case.

The battery is also secured down by a small amount of adhesive. Using the spudger and battery pull-tab, pick the battery up out of its location in the phone.

Remove the battery from the Motorola Atrix HD.

The frame that housed the battery is secured to the body of the phone by ten T5 torx screws. Using the

T5 torx bit screwdriver, remove these screws.
With the ten screws removed, you can now remove the frame from the Motorola Atrix HD.

How to remove LCD

The touch screen connector is the first connection to be removed. Put the flat end of the spudger under the connection. Turn the spudger so it pulls the plug up and out of its socket.
Follow the previous steps to remove the LCD connection. The connection is next to the touch screen connector that was just removed.

The motherboard is next. Removing the motherboard from the phone will require the spudger in order to pry it up from the display assembly. Make sure the LCD is not stuck to the bottom of the motherboard with adhesive.

There are three layers to the phone: the touch screen, the LCD, and the motherboard.
If the LCD is stuck to the motherboard like ours, use the spudger to separate the LCD from the bottom of the motherboard.
Remove the motherboard from the Motorola Atrix HD.

Use the spudger, and a little force, to pry up the

LCD from the touch screen. The LCD and touch screen should now be separated.
Remove the LCD from the Motorola Atrix HD.

How to remove Touch Screen

To separate the touch screen digitizer from the front frame of the phone, use patience and the spudger to pry it up. With these, the separation will come easily.
The adhesive that secures the touch screen to the frame is minimal.

How to remove Front-Facing Camera

Now turn your attention to the motherboard. Use the spudger to pry up the front-facing camera connection.
With the connection out of its socket, remove the one
T5 torx screw that secures the camera assembly to the motherboard.

Use the spudger to maneuver the front facing camera from the Motorola Atrix.

Checking operational charging
To check whether the battery charges properly during operation, use a discharged battery pack or a battery pack that has less than 50% of the total power remaining when installed in the computer. Perform operational charging. If the battery status indicator or icon does not light on, remove the battery pack and let it return to room temperature. Reinstall the battery pack. If the charge indicator or icon is still off, replace the battery pack.
If the charge indicator still does not light on, replace the system board. Then reinstall the battery pack. If it is still not charged, go to the next section.

Checking the battery pack
Battery charging does not start until the Power Meter shows that less than 95% of the total power remains; under this condition the battery pack can charge to 100% of its capacity. This protects the battery pack from being overcharged or from having a shortened life.
To check your battery, move your cursor to the Power Meter icon in the icon tray of the Windows  taskbar and wait for a moment (but do not click it), and the percentage of battery power remaining is displayed. To get detailed information about the battery, double-click the Power Meter icon.
Note: If the battery pack becomes hot, it may not be able to be charged. Remove it from the computer and leave it at room temperature for a while. After it cools down, reinstall and recharge it.

Restore of factory default

The Lenovo Z41-70/Z51-70/ideapad 500-14ACZ/ideapad 500-15ACZ computers come with pre-installed OneKey Recovery System. In order to save application files and the initial backed up files of the system, the hard disk in a Lenovo computer includes a hidden partition when it is shipped. If you need to restore the system to the point of your first boot up, just enter Lenovo OneKey Recovery System and run System Recovery.

How to remove the Keyboard
Remove the screws 1.

Push the keyboard with the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip) through the screw hole on the back cover. Loosen the keyboard with fingers in the direction shown by arrows 2.

Lift the keyboard slightly 3, and then detach the connectors in the direction shown by arrows 4, 5 and 6. Remove the keyboard.

How to remove the Base cover

Remove the screws 1 and 2.

Remove the base cover in the directions shown by arrows 3 and 4.

4. If the voltage is more than +11.0 V DC, measure the resistance between battery terminals 5 and 7. The resistance must be 4 to 30 KΩ. If the resistance is not correct, replace the battery pack. If the resistance is correct, replace the system board.

Battery pack removal

Unlock the manual battery latch 1. Holding the spring-loaded battery latch in the unlocked position 2, remove the battery pack in the direction shown by the arrow 3 .

is displayed. To get detailed information about the battery, double-click the Power Manager Battery Gauge icon.
Note: If the battery pack become shot, it may not be able to charge. Remove it from the computer and leave it at room temperature for a while. After it cools down, reinstall and recharge it.
To check the battery pack, do the following
1. Power off the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack and measure the voltage between battery terminals 1 (+) and 7 (-). See the above figure:
Note: ThinkVantage Toolbox through the "System Health" or through Diagnostics" features will proactively determine if the replacement of battery pack is required. A "POOR" condition indicates battery replacement is required for proper operation.

3. If the voltage is less than +11.0 V dc, the battery pack has been discharged.

Note: Recharging will take at least 3 hours, even if the indicator does not turn on. If the voltage is still less than +11.0 V dc after recharging, replace the battery.
4. If the voltage is more than +11.0 V dc, measure the resistance between battery terminals 5 and 7. The resistance must be 4 to 30 K Ω. If the resistance is not correct, replace the battery pack. If the resistance is correct, replace the system board.
Checking the backup battery
Do the following:
1. Power off the computer, and unplug the AC adapter from it.
2. Turn the computer upside down.
3. Remove the battery pack
4. Remove the backup battery
5. Measure the voltage of the backup battery. See the following figure.

If the voltage is correct, replace the system board.

If the voltage is not correct, replace the backup battery.
If the backup battery discharges quickly after replacement, replace the system board.

DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE 

Grasp the cap of the stylus and remove it from its slot in the midframe.

Pry with a plastic opening tool, or your fingernail, in the divot to the right of the rear-facing camera, near the volume rocker.

Lift and remove the rear case from the phone.

Battery removal 

Insert your finger in the notch of the battery compartment. Press the battery toward the rear facing camera while pulling outward.

Use the flat end of a spudger, or your fingernail, to press the microSD card slightly deeper into its slot until you hear a click.

After the click, release the card and it will pop out of its slot.

For reassembly, push the microSD card into the slot until it clicks in place.

Remove the microSD card from its slot in the midframe.

Use a plastic opening tool, or your fingernail, to push the SIM card out of its compartment.

Slide the SIM card out the rest of the way with your thumb and remove it from the device.

Remove the nine 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the midframe to the display assembly.

Insert your plastic opening tool to the left of the power button between the midframe and the front panel assembly and pry.

Slide the plastic opening tool down the seam.

Insert your plastic opening tool to the left of the headphone jack between the midframe and the display assembly. Slide the opening tool along the top edge of the phone. Continue to run the plastic opening tool around the perimeter of the phone until the midframe is separated.

Remove the midframe from the display assembly.

Remove the three 3 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the speaker enclosure to the front panel assembly.

Remove the speaker enclosure from the display assembly.

Apple iPhone: user tips - How to turn LTE off to save battery

This will save some battery life when you’re in a pinch.
Start by going to Settings, then tap Cellular. The second option is a toggle for “Enable LTE.” When you need to save some battery and can spare Internet speed, switch this option off

Lock your screen orientation

To lock your screen orientation (such as keeping it in Portrait mode) do the following when on the home screen: swipe the screen up from the bottom. You’ll see a new menu (it’s called the Control Center) with a gray circle with an arrow and lock in the upper right corner of the menu. Tap that one time and a lock will appear. When you turn your phone sideways the orientation will stay. To change it back, repeat these same step.

Set an alphanumeric passcode

Setting an alphanumeric password can add an extra layer of protection to your phone, to protect the kids.

To enable, first head to Settings. Next, tap General, navigate to the middle of the page, and select Passcode lock. Turn “Simple Passcode” off and you will be prompted to enter an alphanumeric password.

Tweet a photo directly from your Camera Roll

Go to your camera roll and select a photo. In the bottom left-hand corner, you’ll see an arrow icon. Tap that and a menu will come up.
Choose “Twitter” in the middle row and a menu will come up with the photo attached in the top right corner. Type your tweet, tap Send, and you’re done.

Make the iPod app stop playing after a set amount of time

This tip is handy if you ever fall asleep listening to music. After you’ve selected a song in the Music app, go to the Clock app.
Select the timer option in the bottom right hand corner and set a specific time. Below the time, there is an option that says, “When Timer Ends ...” tap that. At the very bottom of the list is an option for “Stop Playing.” Select this and when the timer is up it will stop the iPod from playing.

Automatically download new apps directly on your iPhone

This is a handy feature if you have a lot of Apple devices. You can make it so that apps and music automatically download on all your devices.

Go to Settings and navigate to the middle of the page. Find and select the “iTunes & App Store” option. Once inside, scroll a little to “Automatic Downloads,” and switch on the options for Music, Apps, Updates, or all
three.

Take a screenshot of your screen

If you want to take a picture of any screen or picture on your device, just go to that screen or picture and hold the Power button while clicking the Home button. The picture will be stored in your Camera Roll.

Find things fast with Spotlight
If you want to search your device for a name, phone number, or other text, go to the home screen and slowly swipe down in the middle of the screen. The Search bar and keyboard will appear. Type what you want to find.

Speed up your phone by selecting what Spotlight indexes

Spotlight is a useful tool for finding stuff on your phone, but if you’ve set it to search your entire phone for every single item present then it can take some time. Have it only search items you care about by starting at Settings, then select General, and finally choose Spotlight search. You can select what your phone indexes and speed up the interface.

Get your draft emails

If you want to get back to a email draft quickly, when in the Mailbox screen, touch and hold the Compose button to see a list of draft emails.

Get more from your PDFs

From a Mail message or a web page, touch and hold the PDF icon or link, then choose from Message, Mail, Print, Look, and other options.

Change your phone’s name
You couldn’t do this in previous iOS versions, but iOS 5 allows you to change your phone’s name directly on the device. Before that, you had to do this through iTunes.
Changing your phone’s name can give it personality. Go to Settings, General, and then About. At the top of the page you’ll see your iPhone’s name - tap it and you can change it to whatever you like.

View websites in full screen

This one’s easy... while browsing a web site in Safari, turn your iPhone to the side (landscape) and it now will adjust to full-screen mode automatically.

Create custom sounds.
You can select a custom sound for your ringtone, texts, voicemails, new mails, tweets, Facebook posts, calendar alerts, and more. To do this one, go to Settings, then tap Sounds. You’ll be able to select custom sounds for each item

Enable Safe Browsing for Safari
When browsing the web in Safari, if you wish to block pop-ups, cookies, or be warned about fraudulent web pages, go to Settings, then Safari, and adjust these settings. Start in Settings, then Safari, and in the middle of the page switch Private Browsing on.

Use Emoticons to give emails and texts some flair
To enable the Emoji keyboard, go to Settings. Tap General, tap Keyboards, then select Add New Keyboard. Find Emoji and select it. Exit by hitting the Home button. Now, when composing a text or email, click on the globe icon at the bottom left of the alphanumeric keyboard to toggle over to the Emoji keyboard. From there you’ll want to select, “Add new keyboard,” once inside that menu you’ll scroll down until you see “Emoji”. Select Emoji. Leave out of settings by pressing the home button and head to a text, note, or new email message.
Start typing and you’ll see a globe icon in the bottom left corner tap that once to toggle between the alpha-numeric keyboard and the Emoji keyboard.

Take advantage of the ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature

Just inside the Settings menu is Do Not Disturb. You can switch this on at night or anytime you don¹t want to be disturbed by emails, calls, or texts, etc. Go to Settings, then Do Not Disturb. You can set it manually anytime, or schedule it at night, for example, by providing a time range. Other options include having calls screened to only allow Favorites or to block everyone. If someone calls you twice within three minutes, the call will not be silenced. Optional settings for Do Not Disturb:
Scheduled: Automatically enable Do Not Disturb between the hours you specify.
Allow Calls From: Allow calls from everyone, no one, your favorites, or specific contact groups.
Repeated Calls: If someone calls you twice within three minutes, the call will not be silenced.

Use the Notification Center
If you want to see quick notifications from your calendar, social networks, weather or stock updates, and more, swipe down from the top of the home screen to view the Notification Center. To change the settings for Notification Center, go to Settings, then Notification Center. In this menu, you can choose from which functions or apps you want to get notifications.

Use Siri discreetly
In case you don’t want to yell out your question to Siri and have her broadcast it back… Go to Settings, then General, then Siri. The last option in the list will be “Raise to Speak.” Switch that on and the next time you raise your phone to your ear Siri will activate.

Use Siri to set location-based reminders
Siri can be used to set a reminder, like saying “Siri, remind me to call mom at 4pm today.” But did you know you can set location-based reminders on your iPhone? Say “Remind me to call mom when I leave here” or “Remind me to call mom when I get home” and you’ll be notified accordingly.

When you use the computer AC Charger to charge the tablet but no power is charged, see the instructions in this topic to check the computer AC Charger.

To check the computer AC Charger, do the following:
1. Disconnect the micro-USB cable from the tablet.
2. Measure the output voltage across the connector marked B of the micro-USB cable.

Note: The output voltage across pin 3 of the micro-B connector might be different from the one you are servicing.

3. If the voltage is not correct, replace the micro-USB cable.
4. If the voltage is acceptable, replace the system board.

Checking the internal battery status
To check the battery status of the tablet, do either of the following:

Approximate information about the battery status 

Get the approximate status of the battery at any time by checking the battery status icon on the system bar in the upper-right corner of the screen. The
shorter the green bar is, the less the battery power remains.
Accurate information about the battery status
To get the accurate information about the battery status of the tablet, do the following:
1. Open the Android Settings screen.
To open the Android Settings screen, do either of the following:
From the main Home screen, touch the Android Settings icon on Lenovo Launch Zone. The Android Settings screen is displayed.
Pull down the application icon from the action bar and then touch Settings. The Android Settings screen is displayed.
2. Touch Battery in the Device section on the Android Settings screen.
3. The accurate percentage of the remaining battery power is shown on the screen.

How to remove Rear cover

1. Open the hinge frame.

2. Remove the card slot cover.

3. Remove screws 1 on the rear cover as shown in the figure below.

4. Hold the tablet in one hand and use a triangle paddle to unlock the rear cover

from the top middle of the tablet along the joint line as shown in the figure
below.

5. Slowly remove the rear cover.

How to remove Battery pack

1. Remove screw 1 on the metal piece for fastening the battery and camera FPC as shown in the figure below.
2. Remove the metal piece.

3. Slowly pull out the hinge pivot using a pair of tweezers.

4. Detach the battery pack at the left end, turn the battery pack clockwise around its right end so as to steer the battery FPC out through the supporting frame at the right end, and then remove the battery pack from the main body of the tablet.
