Service Mode Function
MPU controls the functions switching for each IICs through IIC bus in this chassis. The following setting and adjustment can be adjusted by remote control in Service Menu
How to enter into Service Mode
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press the [RED] button on the remote control for 3 times within 2 seconds.
How to exit
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit or the [POWER] button on the remote control.



Service Tool Mode
How to access
1. Select [SRV-TOOL] in Service Mode.
2. Press [OK] button on the remote control.

Display of SOS History
SOS History (Number of LED blinking) indication.
From left side; Last SOS, before Last, three occurrence before, 2nd occurrence after shipment, 1st occurrence after shipment.
This indication will be cleared by [Self/check indication and forced to factory shipment setting].
Power ON Time, On/Off
Note: To display TIME/COUNT menu, highlight position, then press MUTE for 3sec.
Time: Cumulative power on time, indicated hour: minute by decimal.
On/Off: Number of On/Off switching by decimal.
Note: This indication will not be cleared by either of the self-checks or any other command.
Exit
Disconnect the AC cord from wall outlet or switch off the power with [Power] button on the main unit.


Hotel Mode
1. Purpose
Restrict a function for hotels.
2. Access command to the Hotel mode setup menu.
In order to display the Hotel mode setup menu, please enter the following command (within 2 second).
[TV] : Vol.[Down] + [REMOTE] : AV (3 times) Then, the Hotel mode setup menu is displayed.

3. To exit the “Hotel mode”:
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit or the [POWER] button on the remote control.
4. Explain the Hotel mode setup menu.


Data Copy by USB Memory
Purpose
a) Board replacement (Copy the data when exchanging A-board):
When exchanging A-board, the data in original A-board can be copied to USB Memory and then copy to new A-board.

b) Hotel (Copy the data when installing a number of units in hotel or any facility):
When installing a number of units in hotel or any facility, the data in master TV can be copied to USB Memory and the copy to other TVs.

Preparation
Make pwd file as startup file for (a) or (b) in an empty USB Memory.
1. Insert an empty USB Memory to your PC.
2. Right-click a blank area in a USB Memory window, point to New, and then click text document. A new file is created by default (New Text Document.txt).
3. Right-click the new text document that you just created and select rename, and then change the name and extension of the file to the following file name (a) or (b) and press ENTER. File name:
(a) For Board replacement: boardreplace.pwd
(b) For Hotel: hotel.pwd
Note:
Please make only one file to prevent the operation error.
No any other file should be in USB Memory.

Data Copy from TV set to USB Memory
1. Turn on the TV set.
2. Insert USB Memory with a start-up file (pwd file) to USB Terminal.
On-screen Display will be appeared according to the start-up file automatically.
3. Input a following password for (a) or (b) by using remote control.
(a) For Board replacement: 2770
(b) For Hotel:
4850
Data will be copied from TV set to USB Memory.
It takes around 2 to 6 minutes maximum for copying.
4. After the completion of copying to USB Memory, remove USB Memory from TV set.
5. Turn off the TV set.
Note:
Following new folder will be created in USB Memory for data from TV set.
(a) For Board replacement: user-setup
(b) For Hotel: hotel


Data Copy from USB Memory to TV set
1. Turn on the TV set.
2. Insert USB Memory with Data to USB Terminal.
On-screen Display will be appeared according to the Data folder automatically.
3. Input a following password for (a) or (b) by using remote control.
(a) For Board replacement: 2771
(b) For Hotel:
4851
Data will be copied from USB Memory to TV set.
4. After the completion of copying to USB Memory, remove USB Memory from TV set.
(a) For Board replacement: Data will be deleted after copying (Limited one copy).
(b) For Hotel: Data will not be deleted and can be used for other TVs.
5. Turn off the TV set.
Note:
1. Depending on the failure of boards, function of Data for board replacement does not work.
2. This function can be effective among the same model numbers.

How to access
Self-check indication only:
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [OK] button on the remote control.
Self-check indication and forced to factory shipment setting:
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [MENU] button on the remote control for more than 3 seconds.
How to exit
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit.

[If the CCU ports have been checked and found to be incorrect or not located then " - - " will appear in place of "O.K.".]


Power LED blinking timing chart
1. Subject
Information of LED Flashing timing chart.
2. Contents
When abnormality has occurred the unit, the protection circuit operates and reset to the stand by mode. At this time, the defective block can be identified by number of blinking of the Power LED on the front panel of the unit.

LCD Panel Test Mode
Purpose:
To find the possible failure point where in LCD Panel or Printed Circuit Board when the abnormal picture is displayed.
How to Enter:
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button of the main unit, press [YELLOW] button of the remote control three times.
How to Exit:
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit or the [POWER] button on the remote control.
How to confirm:
If the abnormal picture is displayed, go into LCD Panel test mode to display the several test patterns.
And then, judge by the following method.
Still abnormal picture is displayed: The cause must be in LCD Panel.
Normal picture is displayed: The cause must be in A board.
Remarks:
The test pattern is created by the circuit in LCD Panel.
In LCD Panel test mode, this test pattern is displayed unaffected by signal processing for RF or input signal.
If the normal picture is displayed, LCD Panel must be okay and the cause of failure must be in A board.

SELF DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION (LED blinking error codes)

The units in this manual contain a self-diagnostic function. If an error occurs, the STANDBY/TIMER lamp will automatically begin to flash.
The number of times the lamp flashes translates to a probable source of the problem. A definition of the STANDBY/ TIMER lamp flash indicators is listed in the instruction manual for the user’s knowledge and reference. If an error symptom cannot be reproduced, the remote commander can be used to review the failure occurrence data stored in memory to reveal past problems and how often these problems occur.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATORS
When an errors occurs, the STANDBY/TIMER lamp will flash a set number of times to indicate the possible cause of the problem. If there is more than one error, the lamp will identify the first of the problem areas.
Result for all of the following diagnostic items are displayed on screen. No error has occurred if the screen displays a “0”.

Note 1: If a + B over current is detected, stoppage of the vertical deflection is detected simultaneously.  The symptom that is diagnosed first by the microcontroller is displayed on the screen.
Note 2: Refer to screen (G2) Adjustment in section.

DISPLAY OF STANDBY/TIMER LIGHT FLASH COUNT

STOPPING THE STANDBY/TIMER FLASH
Turn off the power switch on the TV main unit or unplug the power cord from the outlet to stop the STANDBY/TIMER lamp from flashing.
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SCREEN DISPLAY
For errors with symptoms such as “power sometimes shuts off” or “screen sometimes goes out” that cannot be confirmed, it is possible to bring up past occurances of failure for confirmation on the screen:

In standby mode, press buttons on the remote commander sequentially in rapid succession as shown below:

Self-Diagnosis screen display

HANDLING OF SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SCREEN DISPLAY
Since the diagnostic results displayed on the screen are not automatically cleared, always check the self-diagnostic screen during repairs. When you have completed the repairs, clear the result display to “0”.
Unless the result display is cleared to “0”, the self-diagnostic function will not be able to detect subsequent faults after completion of the repairs.
[Clearing the result display]
To clear the result display to “0”, press buttons on the remote commander sequentially as shown below when the diagnostic screen is being displayed.  Channel [8] / 0
[Quitting Self-diagnostic screen]
To quit the entire self-diagnostic screen, turn off the power switch on the remote commander or the main unit.

SELF-DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT

[+B over current OCP] Occurs when an over current on the +B(135) line is detected by Q604. If Q604 go to ON and the voltage to pin 18 of IC301 should go down when V.SYNC is more than seven verticals in a period, the unit will automatically turn off.

Vertical deflection stopped] Occurs when an absence of the vertical deflection pulse is detected by Q509 and IC001 shut down the power supply.
Vertical deflection over current] Occurs when an over current on V drive line is detected by Q507. Power supply will be shut down when detect this by IC001.
White balance failure] If the RGB levels* do not balance or become low level within 5 seconds, this error will be detected by IC301. TV will stay on, but there will be no picture.
* (Refers to the RGB levels of the AKB detection Ref pulse that detects IK.)

"RESET" FUNCTION
1. Purpose
If a customer faces some setting problem that cannot be solved, using the "RESET" function some items will be reset to its original setting (shipment condition)
2. How to Operate
The way to access to the "RESET" Function:-
a) By pressing "MENU" button or "SELECT" button (for non-menu models) on the Front Key Input and hold it down for 5 seconds.
3. Subsequent of Operation
Sequential to the resetting operation (either methods being used in No. 2), TV set would shut down once and automatically turn on again. The power-off duration is expected to be about 500msec. An OSD message, "RESET" tentatively will be displayed for 10 sec after IK status gets stable.
As a result, some items will be reset to an initial condition (shipment condition) whereas some other remains at the last selection by user.

FOCUS ADJUSTMENT
1) Receive digital monoscope pattern.
2) Set "AV CONTROL" to "DYNAMIC"
3) a) Adjust FOCUS VR so that centre of the screen becomes just focus.
4) Change the receiving signal to white pattern and blue back.
5) Confirm MAGENTA RING is not noticeable, Incase magenta is very obvious, adjust a FOCUS VR to take balance between MAGENTA RING and FOCUS.

WHITE BALANCE ADJUSTMENT
1) Set to Service Mode. ADJUSTMENTS WITH COMMANDER
2) Input white raster signal.
3) Set the PICTURE to minimum.
4) Select GCT (WHB 4) and BCT (WHB 5) with [1] and [4], and adjust the level with [3] and [6] for the best white balance.
5) Set the PICTURE to maximum.
6) Select GDR (WHB 1) and BDR (WHB 2) with [1] and [4], and adjust the level with [3] and [6] for the best white balance.
7) Write into the memory by pressing [MUTING] then [0].
SUB BRIGHT ADJUSTMENT
1) Set to service mode.
2) Input a staircase signal of black to white from the pattern generator.
3) BRIGHTNESS .... 50%.
PICTURE ............MINIMUM
4) Select SBR (WHB7) with [1]and [4], and adjust SBR (WHB7) level with [3] and [6] so that the second stripe from the right is dimly lit.
G2 (SCREEN) AND WHITE BALANCE ADJUSTMENTS
G2 (SCREEN) ADJUSTMENT
1) Set the PICTURE to normal.
2) Put to VIDEO input mode without signals.
3) Connect R, G and B of the C6 board cathode to the oscilloscope.
4) Adjust BRIGHTNESS to obtain the cathode voltage to the value below.
5) Adjust G2 (screen) on the FBT until picture shows the point before cut off.

Service mode

ADJUSTMENTS WITH COMMANDER
Service adjustments to this model can be performed using the supplied Remote Commander RM-952.
a. ENTERING SERVICE MODE
With the unit on standby  press  Display > 5 > Volume (+) > Power.  This operation sequence puts the unit into service mode.

METHOD OF CANCELLATION FROM SERVICE MODE
Set the standby condition (Press [POWER] button on the commander), then press [POWER] button again, hereupon it becomes TV mode.
METHOD OF WRITE INTO MEMORY
1) Set to Service Mode.
2) Press [1] (UP) and [4] (DOWN), to select the adjustment.
4) Press [MUTING] button to indicate WRITE on the screen.
5) Press [0] button to write into memory.
MEMORY WRITE CONFIRMATION METHOD
1) After adjustment, pull out the plug from AC outlet, and then plug into AC outlet again.
2) Turn the power switch ON and set to Service Mode.
3) Call the adjusted items again to confirm adjustments were made.

ADJUSTMENT METHOD
Item Number 00 of device GEO
This explanation uses H-Position as an example.
1. Select “GEO 00 HPS” with the 1 and 4 buttons.
2. Raise/lower the data with the 3 and 6 buttons.
3. Select the optimum state. (The standard is 1F for PAL reception.)
4. Write with the [MUTING] button. (The display changes to WRITE.)
5. Execute the writing with the - button. (The WRITE display will be changed to red color while executing, and back to SERVICE.)



Use the same method for all Items. Use 1 and 4 to select the adjustment item, use 3 and 6 to adjust, write with [MUTING], then execute the write with -.
Note : 1. In [WRITE], the data for all items are written into memory together.
2. For adjustment items that have different standard data between 50Hz or 60Hz, be sure to use the respective input signal after adjustment.

PICTURE QUALITY ADJUSTMENTS - SUB COLOR ADJUSTMENT
1. Input a PAL color-bar.
2. Set to the following condition:
PICTURE 100%, BRIGHTNESS 50%, COLOR 50%
3. Connect an oscilloscope to pin1(B OUT) of CN305, A board.
4. Set to Service Mode and select SAJ 3 ‘SCL’ with 1 and 4 of the commander then adjust to VB2=VB3=VB4 with 3 and 6.
5. Press [MUTING] → - of the commander to write the data.
6. Adjust SAJ 3 ‘SCL’ as step 2 to 5 when receiving NTSC color-bar.

SUB HUE ADJUSTMENT
1. Select Video.
2. Input a NTSC, color-bar, into Video.
3. Set the following condition:
PICTURE 100%, BRIGHTNESS 50%, COLOR 50%
4. Connect an oscilloscope to pin 1 (B OUT) of CN305, A board.
5. Select SAJ 1 ‘SHU’ with 1 and 4 of the commander by setting to Service Mode and adjust to VB1=VB2=VB3=VB4 with 3 and 6.  The highest level of VB1,VB2,VB3,VB4 must be aligned at the same line. Ideal difference level between VB2 and VB3 should be within ± 110mV. 

6. Press [MUTING] → - of the commander to write the data.

DEFLECTION ADJUSTMENT
1. Set to Service Mode.
2. Input PAL color bar.
3. Using the 1 and 4 button, select category GEO (Service Mode).
4. Raise/lower the data using the 3 and 6 buttons.
Select and adjust the following items to obtain optimum image

5. Input 525/60Hz signal.
6. Using the 1 and 4 button select category GEO (Service Mode).
7. Select and adjust the following items to obtain optimum image. Raise/lower the data with the 3 and 6 buttons.


H-TRAPEZOID ADJUSTMENT
1. Receive cross hatch/dot signal.
2. Adjust RV1801 on C6 board to make H-trapezoid distortion best.

A BOARD ADJUSTMENT AFTER IC003
(MEMORY) REPLACEMENT
1. Enter to Service Mode.
2. Press commander buttons 5 and - (Data Initialize), and 2 and - (Data Copy) to initialize the data.
3. Call each item number and check if the respective screen shows the normal picture.
In cases where items are not well adjusted, rectify the items with fine adjustment.
Write the data per each item number ([MUTING] +-).
4. Select item numbers “OPB0” (OP1), “OPB1” (OP2), “OPB2” (OP3), “OPB3” (OP4) and respectively set the bit per model with command buttons 3 and 6.
5. Press commander buttons 8 and - (Test Normal) to return to the data that was set on the shipment from the factory.
(This will also cancel Service Mode.)

How to enter into Service Mode
The way to the factory mode menu:
Step 1: Press Menu,
Step 2: Press “8893”,
System will be into the factory mode menu when 2 steps above are done.
At the end of the main factory menu, you can see the edition of the software, like this" BUILD TIME 2014-01-21 23:17:21 VERSION v1.0 ”.

How to exit
If you want to exit this factory menu, please press the button ”Exit” on the remote.
System will be out the factory mode menu.

In factory mode menu, press up/down button to choose the up/down item, press right or OK button to the submenu. Press MENU button to go back.

Adjustment method

Main power +B setting
Receive standard color pattern RF signal set picture to Standard Mode. Adjust VR501. to get +B (VD631 -) voltage =110 V
I2C bus control adjustment method:
enter and exit factory mode
For remote controller of factory

Continuous push [test] key on  the remote controller, the TV mode will change as: Normal  è  M  è BUS OPEN

 You can select “M” ( factory mode ) or “normal” mode.

For remote controller of user
Push [menu] key,
display picture manual → push digital key 8500 → display M. Push [standby] key, exit factory mode and TV will be standby.

MENU 8 Geometrical adjustments.
Receive standard Crosshatch pattern signal for PAL system .
Horizontal line
Shadow
1) Adjust VSLOPE value
to the horizontal line just appear from half bottom shadow.
2) Adjust VSHIFT value
the centre horizontal line correspond to CRT vertical centre.
3) Adjust Vamp value
to get 90% of vertical picture contents would be displayed on CRT.
4) Adjust HSHIFT value
to get the picture horizontal centre correspond to CRT horizontal centre.
5) Receive standard Crosshatch pattern signal for NTSC system, and again adjust.

MENU 7 AGC-TOP adjustment
Receive 60dBu (1mv)VH colour bar signal adjust AGC valuevoltage from high to low), to picture noise reduce gradually to be just disappeared.

MENU 9 CRT cut-off and white balance and sub-brightness adjustment.
Receive gray and white 2 steps signal.
a) CRT cut off adjustment.
1. push [▲P+][▼P-] key to select “SC”, push [►V+][◄V-] key then automatically vertical scan will be stopped.
2. Adjust SCREEN control on Flyback transformer to get the darkest single horizontal line (red
green, or blue, sometimes shows more yellowmore purple or more white).
3. Push [V+][V-] key again, vertical scan work repeat.

b) White balance adjustment.

1. Select RD/BD menu.
2. Adjustment RD/BD to get color temperature as x=281, y=311.
c) sub-brightness adjustment (use stair case signal)
1. Select SB MENU.
2. Adjust SB to get the darkest step being on or off.

MENU 6 Set SHIP MODE
Select “SHIPMODE”, push [V+][V-]key may be shipped.
Note:: may increase the screen of FBT current, the darkling single ought no fly back line, AV state.

Pin19: Band gap decoupling, the band gap circuit provides a very stable and temperature independent reference voltage. This reference voltage (4.0 V) ensures optimal performance of the analogue video processor part of the N301 and is used in almost all functional circuit blocks.

Pin25: Reference current, This pin requires a resistor to ground. The optimal reference current is 100mA which is determined by this resistor. The 100mA reference current should not be changed because the geometry processor is optimised for this current. Furthermore the output current of vertical drive and EW are proportional to this current.
Pin26: Vertical saw tooth, This pin requires a capacitor to ground of 100nF
Pin27: AGC output. This output is used to control (reduce) the tuner gain for strong RF signals.
Pin28: Audio de-emphasis.
Pin29: Sound decoupling. This pin requires a capacitor connected to ground. The pin acts as a low pass filter needed for the DC feedback loop.
Pin30: GND.
Pin31: Sound loop filter.
Pin32: AVL filter.
Pin33: Horizontal drive signal output, needs a resistor in series to +8V.
Pin34: Sandcastle output/fly back input,
Pin35: External audio input, this pin should be grounded in this chassis.
Pin36: EHT tracking/ overvoltage protection. If something is wrong, the anode high voltage rises, the heater voltage will rise too. When the rising voltage arrive some limit, the VD461 works, the voltage of pin 36 will exceed 3.9V, the N301will stop working.
Pin37: PLL loop filter.
Pin38: CVBS output. Monitor or RF videos can be selected.

Pin39: +8V supply source.
Pin40: CVBS input
Pin42: Y signal input.
Pin43: C signal input.
Pin44: Main audio output
Pin45: RGB signal input blanking.
Pin46, Pin47, Pin48: RGB signal input.
Pin49: ABL. It means been current limiter input. The R464 is the control resister.
Pin50: Black current input from the CRT board.
Pin51, Pin52, Pin53: RGB drive signal output to the CRT board.
Pin54: +3.3V.
Pin55: GND.
Pin56: +3.3V.
Pin57, Pin58, Pin59: 12MHz crystal

Pin60: Reset, NC in this chassis.
Pin61: +3.3V
Pin62: This pin is connected to the HEF4052, Functions expanding.
Pin63: This pin is connected to the HEF4052, Functions expanding.
Pin64: IR signal input.


Memory AT24C08 is an E2PROM of 8k, pins describe as follows:
Pin1, Pin2, Pin3,Pin4, Pin7: GND. Pin8: +5V supply.
Pin5: SDA. Pin6: SCL.
