The identification of errors within the FE-2 chassis is triggered in one of two ways :- 1: Busy or 2: Device failure to respond to IIC. In the event of one of these situations arising the software will first try to release the bus if busy (Failure to do so will report with a continuous flashing LED) and then communicate with each device in turn to establish if a device is faulty. If a device is found to be faulty the relevant device number will be displayed through the LED (Series of flashes which must be counted) See table 1., non fatal errors are reported using this method.  Each time the software detects an error it is stored within the NVM. See Table 2.



How to enter into Table 2

1. Turn on the main power switch of the TV set and enter into the ‘Standby Mode’.
2. Press the following sequence of buttons on the Remote Commander.

CIRCUIT ADJUSTMENTS

Service adjustments to this model can be performed using the supplied Remote Commander RM-887.

How to enter into the Service Mode

1. Turn on the main power switch and enter into the stand-by mode.
2. Press the following sequence of buttons on the Remote Commander.

‘TT—’ will appear in the upper right corner of the screen.  Other status information will also be displayed.

3. Press ‘MENU’ on the remote commander to obtain the following menu on the screen.

4. Move to the corresponding adjustment item using the up or down arrow buttons on the Remote Commander.
5. Press the right arrow button to enter into the required menu item.
6. Press the ‘Menu’ button on the Remote Commander to quit the Service Mode when all adjustments have been completed.

Note
• Before performing any adjustments ensure that the correct model has been selected in the ‘Model Setting’ menu.
• After carrying out the service adjustments, to prevent the customer accessing the ‘Service Menu’ switch the TV set OFF and then ON.

Sub Brightness Adjustment

1. Input a Monoscope pattern.
2. Press ‘TEST’ ‘TEST’ 13 on the Remote Commander.
3. Adjust the ‘Sub-Brightness’ data so that there is barely a difference between the 0 IRE and 10 IRE signal levels.

Sub Contrast Adjustment

1. Input a video signal that contains a small 100% white area on a black background.
2. Connect an digital voltmeter to Pin 10 of J701 [C Board].
3. Adjust the Sub-Contrast [‘TT11’] to obtain a voltage of 95 +0,- 5V

Sub Color Adjustment

1. Receive a PAL color bar signal.
2. Connect an oscilloscope to Pin 3 of CN504 [A Board].
3. Enter into the ‘Service’ service menu.
4. Adjust the ‘Sub Color’ data so that the Cyan, Magenta and Blue color bars are of equal levels as indicated below.
Note:
Ensure that no signal is applied to the Antenna socket while carrying out the following IF adjustments.

Tuner AGC Adjustment

1. Set the “AGC adjust” register value: 

• For destination France set the value to 6.
• All other destinations set the value to 0

2. Receive a signal of 64dBuV / 75 ohm terminated [62dBuV / 75 ohms for B model] via the tuner antenna socket.
3. Connect a voltmeter to pin1 of TU101 [print side of A Board] or to the AGC pin of CN001 [mount side of A Board].
4. Confirm that the AGC voltage is 3.5volts +/- 0.3volts.
5. If adjustment is required, enter into the ‘Test Menu’.
6. Select the ‘AGC Adjust’ menu item.
7. Adjust the data using the left and right arrow buttons on the Remote Commander to obtain a voltage of 3.5V +/- 0.3V

Deflection System Adjustment

1. Enter into the ‘Geometry’ service menu.
2. Select and adjust each item in order to obtain the optimum image.

TEST MODE 2:

Is available by pressing the ‘TEST’ button twice, OSD ‘TT’ appears.
The functions described below are available by selecting the two numbers. To release the ‘Test mode 2’, press 00, 10, 20 ... twice or switch the TV set into Stand-by mode. In ‘TT Menu’ mode, it is possible to remove the Menu from the screen by pressing the Speaker Off button once. Pressing the Speaker OFF button a second time will cause the Menu to reappear. The function is kept even when the menu is not displayed on screen.

SERVICE PROCEDURES

Service Procedures differ between the V43C & V43 and the V43+ & V43++ chassis. Be sure to follow the procedure indicated for the model being serviced.



OPTION MENU
1. Press the <MENU> button on the remote control.
2. Press the buttons <2-4-7-0>. The screen will display the Option Menu.
3. The Option Menu for the V43C & V43 differs from the V43+ & V43++ chassis. V43C & V43 Option Menu items are included in the Service Menu. See below.


SERVICE LEVEL INITIALIZATION
Service Level Initialization is used to restore all customer menu, video and audio settings to the original factory default condition.
1. Enter the Option Menu <MENU><2-4-7-0>
2. V43C & V43 Chassis select “2. Reset All Settings” and <ENTER>. Then confirm “YES” <ENTER>..
V43+ & V43++ Chassis select “Initialize” and <ENTER>.


DIGITAL SIGNAL INFORMATION
Information on the currently selected digital channel can be displayed on screen.
1. Enter the Option / Service Menu <MENU><2-4-7-0>

2. V43C & V43 Chassis select “Information” and <ENTER>.
V43+ & V43++ Chassis select “Digital Signal Strength” and <ENTER>


RESET / INITIALIZATION

Many symptoms that are customer generated, intermittent or cannot be verified can be resolved by using the various Reset and Initialization options. Before visiting the customer’s home ask the customer to 1st perform a System Reset by pressing the <POWER> button on the front panel and holding it for 8 seconds. If this does not resolve the issue, they can perform an A/V Reset by pressing the <INPUT> + <VOL Dn> buttons on the front panel at the same time and holding for 10 seconds. Then, if necessary, perform a user level Initialization by pressing <MENU><1-2-3> <ENTER> with the
remote. The customer should be made aware when settings and/or options will be reset. For more information, see the chart below.


LED INDICATIONS AND SELF DIAGNOSTICS

The front panel Status LED provides an indication of the set’s operation and the possible cause of a malfunction.


SELF DIAGNOSTICS
A blinking red and yellow Status LED will indicate an Error Code that can help determine the cause of a circuit failure.
The number of Red blinks indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

 The number of Yellow blinks indicates the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

To perform a System Reset, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds. Or, unplug the set for 10 seconds then restore power.


Error codes


ERROR CODE LOG (V43+ & V43++)
The Error Code Log may be helpful to retrieve the code for an error that occurred in the past.

Error Code Log Definitions
• PAGE - Current page number
• CURRENT TIME - total hours of operational use.
• USAGE TIME - usage hours when the error occurred.
• CODE - the specific Error Code that occurred.
• STATUS: HAPPENED - Indicates an error was recorded.

Press <CANCEL> to erase the Log.

NOTE: The Error Code Log is intended as a reference tool and is not meant to be used as a final determination of a defective part.


SOUND PROJECTOR TRANSDUCER TEST (V43++)
This procedure will test will each of the TV’s speakers individually using an internal tone generator.
1. Press the <MENU> button on the remote control. The Customer Menu will appear.
2. Press the <2-4-5-7> buttons. The Service Menu will appear.
3. Press the <0> button. The Data Transfer & Geometry Menu will appear. See below.

4. Use the <TS> buttons to select “SOUND PROJECTOR TRANSDUCER TEST” and press <ENTER>. The Sound Projector Transducer Test Menu will be displayed. A tone will automatically cycle from one speaker to the next as indicated on screen. Follow the instructions to manually cycle the tone.
5. Press <EXIT> to exit.


SERVICE MENU

The Service Menu is used for all service adjustments.
Service adjustments can only be performed using the remote control.

Activating the Service Menu
V43C & V43

For the V43C & V43 chassis, all service functions except Data Transfer are included under the Service Menu.
1. Press the <MENU> button on a remote control. (The Customer Menu will appear.)
2. Press the buttons <2-4-7-0>. (The Service Menu will appear.)

V43+ & V43++
1. Press the <MENU> button on a remote control. (The Customer Menu will appear.)
2. Press the buttons <2-4-5-7>. (The Service Menu will appear.)


Test Pattern Activation
V43C & V43

1. When in the Service Menu select “Test Picture” <ENTER> <0,1,2,3,4 or 5> to select specific patterns.
2. When in the Service Menu select “Calibration” <ENTER> <1-1-1-1>. Use <CH U> and <CH V> to toggle between patterns.

V43+ & V43++
1. When in the Service Menu, press Play  to activate the internal test patterns (no indication will be displayed initially). Use FWD  and RWD  to toggle between patterns.
2. Press Play  a second time and use
FWD  and RWD  to access additional patterns.
3. Press Play  again to toggle back to the previous patterns.

Adjustment Overview—Specific adjustment procedures follow.
V43C & V43

When in the Service Menu select “Calibration” <ENTER> followed by the code for the adjustment desired.

V43+ & V43++
1. When in the Service Menu use the <VIDEO> button to toggle to adjustment desired indicated by the number and abbreviation displayed on screen.

2. For Geometry, from the Service Menu press <0> and select “Manual Geometry Alignment” <ENTER>.


Adjusting Data
After selecting an adjustment item, use the Navigation arrows or other buttons indicated in the adjustment procedure to perform the adjustment.

Saving Data
Press <ENTER> to save the adjustment data.
V43C & V43, The Status LED will turn red for about 1 second.
V43+ & V43++, The menu display will turn red for approximately one second.
Note: If the circuit adjustment mode is terminated without pressing <ENTER>, changes in adjustment data are not saved.

Exiting the Service Menu
Press <EXIT> to quit.

How to disassemble LG DM19D mechanism – LG OK75

Cover Top
1) Remove the 2 screws (S1).
2) Remove the Cover Top.

Clamp Assembly
1) Place the Clamp Assembly as Figure B.
2) Bending the Cover Top in direction of arrow (2) as Figure B.
3) Separate the Clamp Assembly from the
Cover Top.

 Plate
1) Turn the Plate to a counterclockwise direction
and then lift up the Plate.
2) Remove the Plate.
Magnet
Remove the Magnet.
Clamp
Remove the Clamp.


Tray Disc
1) Insert and push a flat-head screwdriver in the Emergency eject hole (H1) at the right side, so that the Tray Disc is ejected about 15 ~ 20 mm.
2) Pull the Tray Disc until it is locked.

3) Grasp the both sides of the Tray Disc and lift it up as Figure D, and then pull the Tray Disc until it is separated from the MD Sub Assembly completely.

Pick Up Assembly
1) Detach the Gasket Tape.
2) Disconnect the wires (BLK, RED, BRN, ORN) from the Deck PCB Assembly by desoldering.
3) Remove the 4 screws (S2).
4) Disconnect the FFC Cable from the Pick Up Assembly.
5) Remove the 4 Rubber Dampers.

Base Up-Down
Unlock the Locking Tab (L2) in direction of arrow and then lift up the Base Up/Down to separate it from the Base Main.

• When reassembling move the Guide in direction of arrow (A) until it is positioned as Figure G-1.
• When reassembling insert the (B) portion of the Base Up/Down in the (C) portion of the Guide as Figure G-2.
• When reassembling insert the (D) portion of the Base Up/Down in the Hole (H2) of the Base Main as Figure G-3.



Belt Loading
Remove the Belt Loading.
Gear Pulley
Unlock the Locking Tab (L3) in direction of arrow and then separate the Gear Pulley from the Base Main.
Gear Loading
Remove the Gear Loading.
Guide
1) Move the Guide in direction of arrow (A) as Figure H-1.
2) Separate the Guide from the Base Main.

Deck PCB Assembly
1) Disconnect the wires (RED, BK) form the Deck PCB Assembly by desoldering.
2) Remove the 1 screw (S3).
3) Separate the Deck PCB Assembly from the Base Main.
Motor Assembly
Unlock the Locking Tab (L4) in direction of
arrow and then separate the Motor Assembly
from the Base Main.
FFC Cable
Remove the FFC Cable.

  Always respect voltages. While some may not be dangerous in themselves, they can cause unexpected reactions that are best avoided. Before reaching into a powered TV set, it is best to test the high voltage insulation. It is easy to do, and is a good service precaution.

It makes sense to avoid exposure to electrical shock.  While some sources are expected to have a possible dangerous impact, others of quite high potential are of limited current and are sometimes held in less regard.

Service mode data adjustment

When the EEPROM has been replaced, the SVC data should be restored as the function of individual system and specification.
When the EEPROM has been replaced White Blance Checking.

Enter and exit SVC mode.  Into the SVC mode, Initialize with default data.
1) Press 5 Seconds MENU buttons on both TV set and Remote Controller at the same time to get into SVC mode.
2) Press the PR ▲▼ button several times to find SVC Data.
3) Input the corresponding SVC data referring to Table below with the VOL
◀▶ , key.
4) Press TV/AV button to exit SVC mode.

Video A/D Converter

The MST6151 is a high performance and fully integrated graphics processing IC solution for multi-function LCD monitor/TV with resolutions up to SXGA/WXGA. It is configured with an integrated triple-ADC/PLL, an integrated DVI/HDCP receiver, a video de-interlacer, two high quality scaling engines, an on-screen display controller, and a built-in output clock generator. By use of external frame buffer, PIP is provided for multimedia applications. It
supports de-interlaced full-screen video, video-on-graphic overlay, video-by-graphic split screen, frame rate conversion, and aspect ratio conversion for various video sources. To further reduce system costs, the MST6151 also integrates intelligent power management control capability for green-mode requirements and spread-spectrum support for EMI management.

The VCT 49xxI is an IC family of high-quality singlechip TV processors. Modular design and deep-submicron technology allow the economic integration of features in all classes of singlescan TV sets. The VCT 49xxI family is based on functional blocks contained and approved in existing products like DRX 396xA, MSP 34x5G, VSP 94x7B, DDP 3315C and SDA 55xx.
Each member of the family contains the entire IF, audio, video, display, and deflection processing for 4:3 and 16:9 50/60-Hz mono and stereo TV sets. The integrated microcontroller is supported by a powerful OSD generator with integrated Teletext & CC acquisition including on-chip page memory.

Video A/D Converter

Most flat-panel monitors and projectors require a digital graphics input in order to accurately scale and display graphics. The huge installed base of computers with analog video graphics interfaces necessitates the use of a graphics digitizer to re-digitize the analogue RGB signal before further processing.
■ The MST9883CR is a fully integrated analog interface for digitizing high-resolution RGB graphics signals from PC’s and workstations. With a sampling rate capability of up to 140 MHz, it can accurately support display resolutions up to 1280x1024 (SXGA) at 75 Hz. The clamped input circuits provide sufficient band width to accurately digitize each pixel.
■ The MST9883CR provides a high performance highly integrated solution to support the digitization process, including the ADC’s, a voltage reference, a PLL to generate the pixel sampling clock from HSYNC, clamping circuits, and programmable offset and gain circuits to provide brightness and contrast controls.
■ When the COAST signal is asserted, the PLL will maintain its output frequency when HSYNC pulses are absent, such as during the VSYNC period in some systems.
■ A 32-step programmable phase adjustment control (0-360 deg) is provided for the pixel sampling clock to adjust for the difference between the HSYNC edge and RGB pixel edge timing.
■ The MST9883CR can send output data through one 24-bit port at the pixel clock rate.
■ The MST9883CR can also support RGB to YCbCr conversion.
■ The MST9883CR has internal programmable pattern generator for testing.
■ The MST9883CR can accept either standard TTL, CMOS levels or saw tooth vertical deflection signals for VSYNC input.

ATSS sorting method: The TV set sweeps all the TV bands from beginning of VHF to end of UHF. The TV controlling software for each program checks if a VPS CNI code is transmitted. If no VPS CNI code is found, the system check if a CNI code is transmitted in the teletext lines ( Packet 8/30 format 1 ). If such a code ( VPS or teletext ) is found and if this code is in the ATSS list, the program is automatically named.
The programs found are then sorted in 4 groups

Group I : It contains all the programs from the selected country and named by the TV controlling software. Within this group the sorting order is fixed by the ATSS list.
Group II : It contains all the programs with a strong signal strength which are not listed in group I.
Group III : It contains all the programs with a weak signal strength which are not listed in group I.
Group IV : If two or more programs with the same code are found, only the strongest ( or if they have the same level the one with the lowest frequency) is listed in group I, II or III. The others are listed in group IV.

Note : If two programs with the same name but a different code are found these two programs are listed in group I, II or III ( e.g. Regional program SW3 in Germany ).

The sorting order within group II, III, and IV is based on the channel frequency. The program with the lowest frequency is allocated the first rank in its group, and so forth until the last program of the group which has the highest frequency.

Special case : Country selection =  Others

Special case : France
If France is selected the TV controlling software sweeps the whole TV bands firstly with France system selected ( positive video modulation) and secondly with Europe system selected ( negative video modulation).

Special case : Switzerland
If Switzerland is selected the TV controlling software sweeps the whole TV bands firstly with Europe system selected (negative video modulation) and secondly with France system selected ( positive video modulation).

Special case : GB
Note for satellite receiver users : Before starting ATSS turn On your satellite receiver and tune “ SKY NEWS “.
If GB is selected the TV controlling software seeks for programs only in UHF ( C21 to C70 ). The sorting order is :
1 - BBC1
2 - BBC2
3 - ITV
4 - CH4
5 - CH5
6 – NEWS

If two or more “ identical “programs ( same name but different code e.g. BBC1 and BBC1 Scotland ) are found the following programs in the list will be shifted up. (1 - BBC1, 2 - BBC1, 3 - BBC2, 4 - ITV, 5 - CH4, 6 - CH5, 7 - NEWS, ..)

If one of the program above is not found, the associated program number remains empty ( freq.=467.25
Mhz - Skip selected - no name - system=GB).
example A : 1 - BBC1, 2 - BBC2, 3 - ITV, 4 - -----, 5 - CH5, 6 - NEWS, ...

To switch the TV set into service mode please see instruction below.

1 - Select pr. number 91
2 - Adjust sharpness to minimum and exit all menu.
3 - Quickly press the key sequence :
RED - GREEN – menu

To exit SERVICE menu press menu key or Std By key.

In Service Mode press “OK” to stop the microcontroller i.e. the I2C bus is free and the set can be controlled by external equipment. Press “OK” again to allow the microcontroller to control the set again.

Data Capture: The Data Capture section takes in the analogue Composite Vidéo and Blanking Signal (CVBS), and from this extracts the required data, which is then decoded and stored in memory.

The extraction of the data is performed in the digital domain. The first stage is to convert the analogue CVBS signal into a digital form. This is done using an ADC sampling at 12MHz. The data and clock recovery is then performed by a Multi-Rate Video Input Processor (MuIVIP). From the recovered data and clock the following data types are extracted WST Teletext (625/525), Closed Caption, VPS, WSS.
The extracted data is stored in either memory (DRAM) via the Memory Interface or in SFR locations.

The TDA 8944J ( TDA 8946J ) is a dual-channel audio power amplifier with an output power of 2 x 7 W ( 2 x 15 W ) at an 8 W load and a 12 V supply. The circuit contains two Bridges Tied Load (BTL) amplifiers with an all-NPN output stage and standby/mute logic. The TDA8944J comes in a 17-pin DIL power package.
